The Phoenix from the Flames

Imagine that you are living in a country that has been ruled by a group of terrorists. The air of trepidation and dejection are ubiquitous throughout the nation. Would you go with the flow and take such miserable life for granted? Or would you audaciously speak out and judiciously find ways to change many unequal treatments for the sake of the public?

Before reading the autobiographical book, <I Am Malala>, it is difficult for me to comprehend how such common demands, such as studying or even surviving, should be endeavored through wars in those underdeveloped countries. After reading the book, a completely different world full of miserable people was discovered. The inhumanity described in the book is extremely horrible and atrocious. Nonetheless, there are three characteristics that I have observed and should be equipped with so as to lead a successful life in the future. Specifically, those characteristics include intelligence, bravery, and perseverance.

First of all, Malala was so clever that she used media to send a signal of needing helps to the whole world. Via BBC, the national broadcaster of the United Kingdom, she detailed her life under the occupation of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan. The conditions of unfairness and injustice, especially rights for female education, in her country are therefore exposed to everyone around the world. To fight for education rights and survival, media are served as the platform so that attention will be drawn, and lights of hopes can be poured in for younger generations. This has made me realized that to solve problems, choosing appropriate approaches is important. Whenever there are challenges in lives, how to wisely select proper means out of various kinds of intelligent and advanced technological devices has become an issue in this high-tech era.

Second of all, bravery is such a praiseworthy characteristic that Malala dared to stand up for rights and peace, and she even won a Nobel Peace Prize in 2014. In fact, an almost lethal assault happened to her on 9 October 2012. When she was on the bus after taking the exam, a Tehrik-i Taliban Pakistan gunman shot her in the head, and the other two fellows were injured. This assassination attempted to retaliate against Malala’s activism, resulting in her unconsciously lying in the hospital in critical condition. Even though she was miraculously recovered, she was forced to leave her country. Through the incident, her bravery was acknowledged globally, and that is the bravery everyone needs with the purpose of facing everyday trials. In this modern society, pressure, illness, and death are all the lessons that everyone should learn to face bravely. Only by facing the problems bravely can doors of opportunities be open and welcome a brighter day of tomorrow.

Third of all, Malala’s distinct personality of perseverance is perceived through her appeals for rights to education. Most of people get frustrated easily and capitulate, but it is her perseverance that she never abandons her missions and faith although she was shot by a bullet in the head. Besides, her spirit of never giving up has inspired people all over the world, which has a great influence on my life as well. As a senior high school student, mountains of homework and tests have always stressed me out. However, Malala’s determination and steadfastness has cultivated me into a learning attitude of being persistent and conscientious. With the positive spirit and attitude, accomplishment is not far away as Malala stated in her autobiographical book that the closest distance to success in this world is persistence.

In conclusion, intelligence, bravery, and perseverance are three crucial personalities found in Malala. Utilizing the media sagaciously, facing the problem courageously, and sticking to objectives importunately are the competence I should have acquired to lead a successful and delightful life. The book not only demonstrates me different lives in different countries but also teaches me the attitude toward life. All in all, as Malala mentioned in the book that the importance of voice is realized only when silence is forced, cherishing everything should be the most significant attitude toward everyday life.
