    Have you ever heard racial differences? The main character is a Chinese girl. When she goes to America, she cannot communicate, even talk to the teacher .In this book, she shows how to face racial differences. She likes baseball, and she likes a black baseball player called Jackie Robinson.

    I see a lot of things in this book; I see how to make friends in other country. I see some questions in this book, some American would laugh at foreign classmates, and we cannot defend because we cannot understand what they are saying. This situation happens in Taiwan as well. Sometimes we laugh at some Africans, but most of us treat foreigners well. In this book, I see how to overcome racial differences .If I am the girl in this book ,I would try to improve my speaking of English .When I do it well, I would introduce my culture to everyone. However, we go oversees we would face a lot of question about food. We do not eat potato as stable, and we cannot eat a lot of fruit in America. Besides, America is a melting pot of culture. Some people can't even accept foreign races or things. I admire Shirley's behavior in the book. She doesn’t know what people are laughing at, but she keeps asking questions. I think it's a very brave act. At the beginning of the book, I thought it was just an ordinary book, just a book describing the country's children. However, it is a story about a girl immigrating to a foreign country. Taiwan also has a lot of foreign brides, they come just to have a working, language and we're different, but a lot of people have discrimination with them.

    Is having a idol important? I thought the answer is yes，Jackie Robinson pushed Shirley further. Baseball and her idol was an important part of her life. Although she was not a baseball player, it was still push her. She knew how to communicate with other person.
