The Ordinary Miracle

“What is essential is invisible to the eye.” Just as what had been told by the little prince, magical power was working secretly in this ordinary barn, making this common place a special and remarkable one.

Born in the spring time, Wilbur was too small and was on the verge of being killed. Thanks to the kindness and the bravery of Fern, it was a narrow escape from death. From then on, the love, the sheer relationship between them tied them together. Love traveled through different species, breaking barriers and permeating softly into both of their hearts. It is not easy for anyone to find faults with the intimacy shared by them. The seed is spread in the garden that most of us ignore, and so when the flower blossoms, when it attracts people with its fragrance, it is surprisingly beautiful and charming, because we have never paid close attention to this amazing garden. We simply ignore things that are unique in some way.

As Wilbur grew bigger, Fern was no longer able to take care of him all the time, so he arrived at the barn. This barn was no special to any other, and so is the pig. Yet, when two ordinary things meet at the right time, something extraordinary might happen.

At the barn, Wilbur met a new friend, Charlotte, who was a spider with a kind heart. She promised to save Wilbur from being killed and thus, the trust between them was built. Not only a genuine friend but also a figure of a loving mother, Charlotte dedicated her love to Wilbur thoroughly. From goodnight lullaby, to every inquisitive why, Charlotte patiently treated Wilbur as if he were her son. Love seemed to work miraculously on Wilbur. This time, it crossed the gap between two animals and provided both of them with a sense of satisfaction gained from the company of one another. Love, the great magician, sprinkled the glowing sparkle on the friendship, and then the peaceful barn began to shine. It announced to the whole world that even at the most unlikely corner, everything impossible may somehow happen, lively in front of you. Spiders can weave words, can’t they?

Charlotte wove her affection into her web, turning her masterpiece into the key solution to saving Wilbur’s life. Every word she wove drained her energy, but they also represented the love and the expectations she had for Wilbur. The genuine friendship made the miracle happen. A miracle to human beings was merely the resort animals used to save their best friend’s life. What is essential is indeed invisible to the eye. What is called “miracle” is the labor of love from a dedicating and loyal friend. From the very beginning, the web dangled on the doorway, and until her death, though she was no longer there, the web was still hanging high up there. It seemed like the web was a lighthouse standing right there to guide Wilbur out of his hardships, reminding him of his virtues and her encouragements. Though Charlotte was no longer beside Wilbur, love remained and would always occupy part of his heart. Not so many “animals” could be both a good friend and a good writer yet Charlotte was both.

Love, which is the most common emotion we are able to feel and to give, does make miracles out of ordinary scenes. It is able to traverse through different species and connect two hearts together. It is able to transform impossibility into a positive situation. Could you imagine the scene of a spider befriending a pig and it even saving his life? If it weren’t love, what would it be? If it weren’t the solid friendship, miracles wouldn’t happen. This strongest natural force gathers all the power in the world and weaves this beautiful story. Love between our family and friends are exactly the same but we tend to ignore those common yet beautiful time we share with our beloved ones. The combination of two ordinary things might just be the beginning of a sensational extraordinary marvel!
