本書為日本早稻田大學遠距教學中心和淡江大學英文系英語教學組共同合作的成果，其目的主要在探討語言、文化以及資訊科技在教學上的應用。由於現代資訊科技的蓬勃發展，它已經改變今日的教學模式；換言之，學習不再侷限於教室裡，它也可以經由不同的管道，讓學習者在跨國的語境中去學習和欣賞不同國家的語言和文化。本書共收錄九篇文章，分為三個部分：一、 「誇文化遠距課程」 （Cross-Cultural DistanceLearning）；二、「科技於教學之應用」（Technology in Teaching）和 三、「第二語言習得」（Second Language Acquisition）。全書收錄兩校有關遠距教學最新研究成果。
Language, Culture, and InformationTechnology offers invaluable insights oncross-cultural communication, computer technology in language teaching, andsecond language acquisition in Asia. Section I focuses on CCDL Programs withrelated research investigating the impact of CCDL on language learning andcultural development. Section II touches on the use of information technologyin general for cross-cultural communication and language learning. Section IIIinvolves studies on writing and reading in second language acquisition.Although each work is unique, the roles of cultural values and English learningin EFL contexts are woven throughout this collection.

蔡振興Robin Chen-Hsing Tsai
臺灣大學外文研究所文學博士，現任淡江大學英文系教授兼系主任、中華民國文學與環境學會理事長(ASLE-Taiwan)、中華民國比較文學學會副理事長。主要教授科目為英文寫作、西洋文學概論、文學作品導讀、英國文學、美國文學、英美詩選及文學批評。研究領域為文學理論、史耐德研究、全球暖化論述、生態文學與文化批評及世界文學。英文主要著作為Gary Snyder, Nature and Ecological Communication (Bookman, 2010)；近期期刊論文有“GarySnyder: Translator and Cultural Mediator Between China and the World”(ComparativeLiterature Studies, 2012)、“(Post)Modernity in the Penal Colony: Richard Flanagan’s Gould’s Bookof Fish”(Neohelicon, 2011)。
Guy Redmer is a lecturer in the Departmentof English at Tamkang University. Initially teaching in America before moving toTaiwan, he has been teaching English as a second language for more than 17years. He has published a number of books for English learners, including Passport:Essential reading and listening skills, read & Discover: Clues from Nature,Read & Discover: The Rescue, Get the Point, Vocabulary & Reading: NewTOEIC, Workplace English, and All in One: English for Global Communication. Hehas also edited numerous books and journal articles. In addition, he haspresented several workshops and seminars for English teachers in Taiwan.Currently, his research focus is on reading in a second language andlearner-centered teaching techniques.
