書林同事幫我規劃〈蘇老師的英語天地〉夏季班，第一場將在 7/13 (Sat) 14:00-16:00 開始，我打算多談些中譯英的問題。
英文如果不是你的母語，在接收英文訊息 (聽、讀)，或用英文表達 (說、寫)時，其實都是在從事英中、中英雙語互換的翻譯工作。
我們中譯英難免受到中文的影響，許多耳熟能詳的說法與寫法，有時候是正確的，如： What wind blows you here? (什麼風把你吹來的) ; A rat crossing the street is chased by all. (過街老鼠人人喊打) ; Pure gold fears no fire. (真金不怕火)
有時候不是，如：台灣許多大學裡的「xx 選讀」英文往往直譯為 Selected Readings of xx；「小說選讀」譯成 Selected Readings of Fiction，「戲劇選讀」譯為 Selected Readings of Drama，這是很奇怪的講法，但大家似乎見怪不怪。
Google 一下 "Selected Readings of Drama" 約有 7,240 項結果 (4/24/19)，不過你若將搜索國家地區排除台灣，加上 -site:tw的限制指令，就出現：
找不到 "Selected Readings of Drama" -site:tw 的結果。
或你再加上 "Course title" 也出現：
找不到 "Selected Readings of Drama" "Course title" 的結果。
或你指定搜索國家為英美兩國，也一樣找不到：
找不到 "Selected Readings of Drama" site:uk 的結果。
找不到 "Selected Readings of Drama" site:us 的結果。
那英美學校裡的「戲劇選讀」、「小說選讀」怎麼說？
茲舉美國賓州大學英文系及 LASC 的課程為例：
Philadelphia University. Faculty of Arts - Department of English. 1st. Semester, 2017/2018 ... Course Title: Drama. Level: Third year. Prerequisite: 120251.
