Pilkey還在小學念書時，就常常惡作劇、開玩笑，而且還會畫一些無厘頭的漫畫，老是惹麻煩。內褲超人是他二年級時發明的超級英雄，也是他最有名，或者說是最惡名昭彰的發明！除了內褲超人，皮爾奇也為小朋友畫了很多其他的作品，其中的圖畫書《送報童》(The Paperboy)，在1997年為皮爾奇先生贏得凱迪克推薦獎（Caldecott Honor）。
